Position Summary:
Receives telephone calls for assistance and/or emergency police services from persons on the Washburn University Campus, monitors alarm systems in campus buildings, the environmental computer and Emergency Help Phones on campus. Determines appropriate response(s) based on the scope and urgency of reported and observed incidents and summons officer(s) to provide assistance.

Essential Functions:
• Receives and transmits information to and requests from officers in the field via police radio and retrieves requested information by operating the NCIC computer and KCJIS computer to perform record checks, warrant checks, driver’s license checks, and vehicle registration checks.
• Keeps a constant accounting of the location, status, and safety of all officers. Types call information into the CAD computer to establish a record of the daily activities.
• Interfaces with the campus community in person to assist with lost and found items and to give information and directions about the campus when requested. Maintains the key check out log and the visitor log.
• Monitors the Closed-Circuit television cameras and the campus surveillance cameras for suspicious activities and reports such activities to the officers in the field.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor multiple devices, complete required forms, follow department procedures, and carry out assigned tasks almost simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
• This position is designated a safety-sensitive position, requiring a drug screening and criminal background check prior to hire.
• US Citizen, US National, Permanent Resident Alien of the US, or Non-Citizen with unrestricted employment authorization.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• This is a critical public safety position that is considered "essential." Extended hours (pre-shift, post-shift, and/or on days off) may be required to meet minimum staffing requirements.
• This position requires varying work locations and schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).
• Regular and reliable attendance is critical due to operational needs, ensuring public safety, and providing prompt emergency service to the community.
