Position Summary:
Washburn University's Allied Health Department invites applications for the position of Physical Therapist Assistant Lecturer with expected start date of August 1, 2026. This is a 9-month, 3/4-time, non-tenure track appointment as a Lecturer. The Allied Health Department offers nationally accredited programs and offerings at multiple levels including associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.

Essential Functions:
• Fulfill teaching expectations associated with non-tenure-track appointment. Teach 9-hours per semester (either in-person or online, according to departmental needs) or equivalent ¾-time workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Teach and develop curriculum according to course competencies as assigned and as dependent upon department needs.
• Maintain an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA certification in the state of Kansas and maintain compliance with the Kansas state practice act.
• Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
• Fulfill service expectations associated with non-tenure-track appointment by engaging in service activities in the department, school, university, profession, and the community.
• Advise students, attend meetings, and maintain on-campus office hours in accordance with SAS and university policy.
• Support Program Director to assure effective program operations.
• Participate in accreditation and assessment processes.
• Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress.
• Adhere to all university policies and perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
• Minimum three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice
• Must be eligible to hold and maintain an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA certification in the state of Kansas and be in compliance with the Kansas state practice act.
• Demonstrated dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage all learners.
• Official educational transcripts required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• College/post-secondary teaching experience
• Experience in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising
• Experience in program planning and assessment
• Minimum of two years of experience as a site coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor in physical therapy, or minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant education program
