This position is responsible for working closely with stakeholders across the University to effectively execute employee engagement and development initiatives that will align with Washburn's strategic framework and support the University's priority to enhance the employee work environment to learn, work, and thrive. This position will also maintain an understanding of employee engagement and development trends and issues, provide guidance, and/or convert strategies or initiatives into result-driven actions.
Essential Functions:
• In partnership with stakeholders, develop, implement, provide, and/or facilitate programs or meetings to support and enhance employee engagement and development initiatives. This may include technical, operational, and behavioral content areas, including the administration of new employee orientation programs, new leader training programs, and/or informational workshops and courses.
• Facilitate group training virtually and/or in person, both as a presenter and in support of subject matter experts to drive discussion, answer questions, and enhance the learning experience.
• Develop and deliver relevant and timely training sessions/programs to meet stakeholder needs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, assessment results, and performance metrics.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, including attendance and performance evaluations.
• Manage all training logistics. This includes ensuring training is promptly scheduled, training materials are appropriately prepared, and communication with participants and/or presenters/facilitators is timely and effective.
• Provide guidance, support, and resources to supervisors regarding employee engagement initiatives. This may include topics such as performance management, professional development, and/or skills enhancement.
• Oversee the administration of the University's online learning platform, including user management, content upload, and reporting.
• Curate collections and design campaigns within the online learning platform to recommend or promote campus-wide learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives, including employee recognition programs, climate and engagement surveys, and student employment appreciation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned or appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree at the time of application.
• Professional experience in providing adult learning, to include experience assessing training needs, designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs. Prefer experience with providing effective leadership and/or team building training.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
• Experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including moderating group sessions;
• Effective interpersonal communication and customer service skills, including tact and diplomacy;
• Proven ability to prioritize competing deadlines, follow through, and be flexible;
• Proven ability to lead/manage project from inception to completion.
• Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Ability to collaborate with all individuals with differing needs at all levels of the organization; and
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs of training materials.
• Regular business hours with occasional need to extend hours during special programming. Hybrid opportunity available.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous higher education experience preferred.
Exempt, Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
