Position Summary: Washburn University's Social Work Department invites applications for a Lecturer, BSW Field Education Director to begin April 1, 2025 or as negotiated. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment as a Lecturer.

The Social Work Department offers a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. With small class sizes and individualized academic advising, faculty build relationships with students and mentor them toward success.

Essential Functions:
• Manage field education placement processes for BSW students.
• Maintain an equivalent full workload including teaching (in-person and/or online according to departmental needs) as outlined in the faculty handbook and in accordance with accreditation requirements.
• Hold on-campus office hours, attend meetings, provide academic advising, and engage in service requested by Department Chairperson and Dean of the School of Applied Studies.
• Collaborate with the MSW Field Education Director in the identification, securing, development, and assessment of field education placements; maintenance of the Field Education Handbook; facilitation of field education workshops and CEU trainings for field education instructors and students; and evaluation of field education policies and procedures.
• Facilitate strong working partnerships with community agencies and field instructors.
• Utilize field education software, including maintaining and updating system (e.g. forms development, workflows, report generation and tracking); attending field education software trainings as necessary; providing software training to personnel, field instructors, and students as needed.
• Fulfill service expectations associated with non-tenure-track appointment by engaging in service activities in the department, school, university, and profession.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years post master’s degree full-time social work practice experience.
• Demonstrated effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness and ability to use technology.
• Demonstrated dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.
• Official educational transcripts due at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active social work license or eligibility for licensure in Kansas.
• Five years post master’s degree full-time social work practice experience.
• Familiarity with Sonia or other management software.
• Experience as a field education instructor, liaison, or coordinator.
• Post-secondary teaching experience in university or professional settings. Preference will be given to teaching experience in a CSWE accredited program.
