Position Summary: Lecturer in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies to begin August 1, 2024. This is a 9-month, full-time position, with the possibility of conversion to a tenure track line.
The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds. Essential Functions:
• Teach 12-hours per semester (either in-person or online, according to departmental needs) or equivalent full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Advise students, maintain office hours in accordance with SAS and university policy, attend meetings, and engage in service activities in the Department, the School of Applied Studies, the University, the profession, and the community.
• Reports to the Department Chair.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field.
• Experience working in the criminal justice field.
• Demonstrated commitment to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.
Official transcripts required at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Research or practice in law enforcement.
• Research or practice in forensic investigations.
• Post-secondary teaching experience in criminal justice and/or professional settings.
