Position Title: Director, Professional Development, Substitutes, and Corrections

Advertised Pay: Base $60,442, with potential increase commensurate with experience.

As a member of the Washburn Institute of Technology management team, the Director is expected to demonstrate professional leadership behavior and support for lifelong learning, and the personal growth and development of instructional staff.
Essential Functions:
• Provide effective leadership and oversight for hiring, orienting, supervision and evaluation of staff and substitutes.
• Hire and assign substitute instructors when technical instructors are absent.
• Establish and implement a substitute instructor onboarding program ensuring that an adequate number of Substitutes are available as needed.
• Coordinate and lead all onsite/offsite instructor professional development in collaboration with student services, academic services, and senior management.
• Schedule, present and/or facilitate new technical instructor orientation to communicate the mission, vision, and goals of the institution and provide information on processes and procedures at Washburn Institute of Technology and Washburn University.
• Coordinate and help guide the Washburn Institute of Technology Professional Learning Council to ensure professional development needs of instructors are being met.
• Develop and implement faculty and staff onboarding programs. Communicate and collaborate with supervisors/senior management on new hires acclimation progress.
• Ensure compliance with Washburn University Policies, Regulations and Procedures.
• Provide leadership and oversight of staff and operation of the Kansas Juvenile Correction Center (KJCC) and Topeka Correctional Facilities (TCF) and other academic sites as needed.
• Develop annual goals and reports for the Washburn Tech Kansas Juvenile Correction Center (KJCC) and Topeka Correctional Facilities (TCF) and other academic sites as needed.
• Establish relationships and maintain an active presence with key stakeholders and constituents, including key members of the local community and advisory boards as a representative of Washburn Tech.
• Work with the appropriate parties to ensure that Washburn Tech off-site locations follow the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and any other program accreditors.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree.
• Three years of secondary or post-secondary education experience.
• Ability to pass the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) background check.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree.
• Experience working with Corrections.
• Experience in developing professional development materials.
