Position Summary: The Washburn University Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for a 10-month temporary position in Sports Information.

Washburn University is a public institution in Topeka, Kansas with more than 7,000 students and 1,000 faculty and staff involved in more than 200 academic programs. The Washburn lchabods have a proud history of success at the NCAA Division II level, and since joining the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in 1989-90 have made 150 NCAA Tournament appearances and have won 48 MIAA Championships.

The start date is anticipated for August 1, 2026, and the successful candidate is expected to commit to working for 10 months with an anticipated end date of May 31, 2027. The candidate will generally work 20 hours or less per week, with weekend and evening work required.

Essential Functions:
Assist the Athletic Communications Office with coverage of the school's 17 athletic programs.
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in sports management, journalism, communications, or related field, or must be completed by the end of the semester of hire.
• Proven effective writing and editing skills, with experience utilizing computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Demonstrated general sports knowledge and social media.
• Proven understanding of software used for sports statistics tracking and reporting, such as Genius Live Stat program, or the ability to learn new computer programs quickly.
• Driver's license with a driving record acceptable by the University's standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
• NCAA Live Scoring programs experience.

Stipend Monthly Exempt, Part-time, Varies 
Background check and driving history are required.
