Advertised Pay: Base $18.36/hour with potential for a higher entry rate commensurate with experience

Position Summary: The Printer Services Specialist performs various print and support services for Washburn University. Works with department designers and clients on materials produced, ensuring quality and consistency, using various job-specific machines to complete tasks. Maintains equipment, inventory, and monthly charge-back reports.

Essential Functions:
• Bill user departments for materials and services to ensure funds are transferred from user accounts to UMAPS accounts according to University policies and procedures.
• Initiate all requisitions and payment vouchers to order and initiate payments for all necessary supplies, paper, and vendor services needed in UMAPS.
• Using current software, establish, update, and maintain computer database(s) of all client orders to track orders, provide data for monthly activity and usage reports, calculate amounts due and bill clients, track inventory, plan and schedule work to be done, and provide data for analysis and reports. File all records received, issued or retained for reference as needed in resolving issues, etc.
• Record and enter all monthly procurement card usage, reconcile receipts and cash purchases, and submit usage reports for P-card purchases.
• Using available software to print and finish materials as needed, check the correct sequence of materials to be printed, and note copier/bindery activities to be performed to prepare materials for print from hard copy submissions, digital files, emails or from electronic storage of materials and media in response to client's request for printing.
• Review digital files submitted by clients and designers for proper formatting, color, layout, resolution, bleed, and overall design. Perform preflight checks to ensure files meet print specifications. Make necessary file corrections, including image resolution adjustments, color corrections, and font embedding. Review work with clients and designers to ensure customer expectations are accurately represented in the final print job.
• Provide technical assistance to customers to ensure designs meet production standards.
• Operate high-volume copiers/printers and wide-format and color copiers/printers, producing documents.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and schedule service providers for required maintenance and repair as needed.
• Assist print production with bindery functions to ensure quality and accuracy when completing work.
• In collaboration with Marketing and Branding, communicate with graphic designers, production managers, and press operators to resolve issues or clarify design intent. This includes outsourced materials.
• Participate in paper inventory activities, including but not limited to submitting paper stock orders to the manager, counting and wrapping paper, and delivering paper stock to clients as needed.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience using computer software to produce printed material, from hardcopy and digital originals, and operating high-volume copier and bindery equipment.
• Proficiency in operating various types of printing equipment.
• Knowledge of printing processes and terminology.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn and use a variety of computer software.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and maneuver materials weighing as much as fifty pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using large digital printers.
• A degree or certification in graphic design, printing technology, or related fields is a plus.
• Experience in Print Production pre-press.

Hourly, Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
