Position Summary: Washburn University's Department of Psychology invites applications for a lecturer position to begin August 2025. This is a full-time 9-month, non-tenure track, renewable position.
The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University, including a dedication to developing teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.
The Psychology department is a collegial and collaborative one and consists of faculty from various areas in psychology. All faculty teach and advise our undergraduate and graduate students. Clinical faculty also supervise therapist trainees in the department’s Psychological Services Clinic. Washburn provides support for faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students to present collaborative research at regional and/or national conferences each year.
Essential Functions:
• Fulfill teaching expectations associated with lecturer appointment. Teach 12-hours per semester (in-person and online, according to departmental needs) or equivalent full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate classes and seminars as assigned and as dependent upon department needs, which may include Adult Assessment, Adult Assessment Practicum, Adult Treatment, Adult Treatment Practicum, Introductory Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Personality, Ethics as assigned by the Department Chairperson.
• Advise students and fulfill service expectations associated with non-tenure appointment by engaging in service activities in the department and university.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology; ABD applicants will be considered, with completion of the Ph.D. by August 1, 2026.
• Licensed or license-eligible in Kansas as a psychologist.
• Graduate training or experience appropriate to teach clinical psychology courses at the graduate/undergraduate level.
• Demonstrated dedication to developing teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.
• Official educational transcripts required at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology from APA accredited program.
• Experience doing clinical supervision.
• Graduate training or experience appropriate to teach Adult Assessment at the graduate level.
