Position Title: Equipment Manager

Department: Athletics

Advertised Pay: $22.43/hour

Campus Location: Washburn University

Position Summary: This position is responsible for leading equipment operations for assigned sports. Manage and maintain uniforms, equipment, and gear for athletes while ensuring health and safety standards for equipment and apparel are properly implemented and upheld.

Essential Functions:
• Distribute, receive, and coordinate the use of practice and gameday operational needs by assigned sports.
• Monitor the maintenance needs of equipment, room machinery, and schedule repairs as needed.
• Establish and implement departmental protocols to maintain an accurate inventory system.
• Organize the equipment room, while storing equipment promptly when not in use to maintain cleanliness and order.
• Make arrangements for repair and upkeep of all equipment and uniforms as needed.
• Pack and/or supervise other staff in packing, transporting, and setting up equipment in preparation for team use at home and selected away games and competitions.
• Potential to recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and student workers.
• Use discretion to ensure all equipment meets MIAA, NCAA, and other applicable health and safety standards and best practices.
• Perform routine and emergent maintenance to ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
• Ensure proper sanitation of apparel and coordination of team laundry operations throughout the year.
• Provide athletes with appropriate playing apparel and properly fitting protective equipment.
• Develop and submit budget requests based on equipment needs.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• One year of full-time work experience or relevant education or a combination
of relevant education and experience equal to one year of full-time work experience.
• Demonstrated record of effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with effective attention to detail.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn new software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively individually and collaboratively.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable by Washburn’s standards.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to move and/or maneuver equipment/materials weighing as much as 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience working in an Athletic Department.
• Experience supervising or coordinating the work of others.

Hourly, Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm   
Background check and driving history are required
