Position Summary: Primary responsibilities are to assist with the organization of the operations of construction on Washburn campuses by assisting with the coordination of resources and equipment for construction projects, with the goal of getting them completed accurately, on time, and within budget. Projects may range from new construction or renovations to program specific equipment installations. This position may be asked to help with concept development, design, planning, bidding, and/or implementation processes.

Essential Functions:
• Support staff with project management throughout the construction process for new construction, major renovations, and/or alterations to campus facilities to ensure the University's expectations and requirements are met.
• Work with architectural and engineering firms along with staff and other University stakeholders during all phases of construction to verify the project is reflective of the design/construction plans.
• May serve as a liaison among campus departments and external contractors for coordinating and scheduling projects.
• Assist with monitoring construction sites to ensure projects have necessary resources, are completed on time, and within budget.
• Inspect projects, drawings, and documents to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Assist with the studies and observations of the physical needs of Washburn campuses and coordinate the necessary repairs, renovations, and/or alterations to Washburn facilities.
• Support staff in management of project timelines to report and adjust for delays and emergencies as they arise.
• Facilitate acquisition of needed materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure appropriate permits are obtained and filed.
• Assist with monitoring project costs.
• Work with contractors to address issues that arise during construction. With assistance from staff, identify acceptable approaches to resolve issues within time and cost constraints.
• Continually update project files (as-built drawings, test reports, O&M manuals, cost data, insurance documents and warranties) for reporting and project management.
• Assist with maintenance of university records (project records, shop drawings, original equipment manufacturer manuals, etc.) using department software. Collaborate with staff to complete paperwork (budgets, cost estimates, upkeep, etc.), including project closeout process.
• Provide assistance with project research and resolution.
• Support staff in the preparation of reports, collecting and formulating data. Work collaboratively to assist with the preparation of the budget for yearly capital improvement requests.
• Assist staff with updating floor plans and campus and utility maps.
• May attend meetings to provide assistance to other units within the department, or to represent the department throughout campus.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Non-Essential Functions:
• Coordinates furniture selection for departments.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, architectural engineering, or construction management.
• Previous construction experience required.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets Washburn standards.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work from a ladder or lift, tour the campus, buildings, and job sites, which may include uneven surfaces and/or stairs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of construction project management experience.
• Knowledge in Revit or Auto CAD.
• Experience with ADA, building, and life safety codes.
• Proficient MS Office Suite skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects with evidence of completion within established budget and timelines.
