Position Summary: The Custodial Supervisor must plan, organize, oversee and evaluate the work of custodians to ensure the cleanliness of the buildings and facilities across the University's campus.
Essential Functions:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of assigned staff to maximize employee performance.
Provide feedback and development opportunities. As the team leader, maintain a healthy, fair, and inclusive work environment by promoting and exercising teamwork and collaboration. Actively promote a professional workplace culture of mutual respect and collegiality for all members of the institution. Work to build positive and cooperative relationships with staff, encouraging them to work toward individual and departmental goals.
Responsible for establishing and monitoring staff schedules and issues that may arise regarding the workload, work product quality, and delivery, as well as coordinating and evaluating the day-to-day cleaning operations of the area to ensure compliance with department and university policies. Manage supplies and the efficient, safe usage of supplies and equipment. Establish service standards, communicate and manage the implementation in ways that lead to measurable results with staff. Establish and monitor standards for maintaining a high level of quality customer service.
Review and evaluate staff and set performance and personal development goals for each. Provide feedback to recognize and reinforce high-performance levels or initiate changes when performance does not meet established standards. Responsible for providing practical and accurate communication to staff and impacted stakeholders regarding the work. Provide directions and assistance with room set-up for events.
Conduct building inspections to evaluate the level of cleanliness. Inspect custodial closets to ensure appropriate quantities are on hand, supplies are correctly stored, first aid kits and MSDS reference books are up-to-date and present. Inventory and inspect custodial equipment to ensure storage in assigned closets and that equipment is in good condition and working order.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
~High School diploma or GED equivalent.
~Minimum of two years of custodial supervisory experience.
~Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning products and selection, cleaning procedures, and the safe use of products.
~Experience using a computer.
~Proven experience or a demonstrated willingness to accept service calls and work assignments after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
~Demonstrated ability to work with and train others in a professional and positive manner, fostering a healthy work environment.
~A valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle report that meets the university’s standards.
Physical Requirements:
~Ability to move and maneuver materials weighing as much as 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
~Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word software programs.
Hourly, Full time, Sun-Thurs, 10pm-6:30am
