Position Title: Administrative Specialist

Department: Washburn Tech East Administration

Advertised Pay: $13.25/hour with the potential to start at a higher rate commensurate with experience

Location: Washburn Tech East

Position Summary:

The Administrative Specialist for Washburn Tech East performs a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, planning activities, and provides student, instructor and staff support requiring advanced/specialized knowledge and skills particular to Washburn Tech East.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet and assist staff, students and visitors that call, email or visit the Welcome Center.
  • Respond to questions (regarding admission status, student records, Title IV eligibility, financial aid disbursement, cost of attendance, tuition billing, payment processes, etc.) from prospective/current students in the initial application stages for admission and enrollment.
  • Assist students with completing and submitting various forms.
  • Create and revise materials as policies and procedures change.
  • Explain and guide students through the verification requirements established by Dept. of Education to determine Financial Aid eligibility and repayment requirements/options.
  • Advise students of the financial implications/charges on their student accounts as they consider adjusting their enrollment status.
  • Maintain accurate and current database and record keeping system for the Adult Education Program.
  • Develop and maintain a system to track costs and generate billings.
  • Help conduct TABE testing, Digital Literacy and other testing as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and attend meetings, training sessions, etc.
  • Perform additional job related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. One year of full-time equivalent work experience or relevant education or a combination of relevant education and experience equal to one year of full-time work experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated problem solving, organization and prioritization skills. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with tact and diplomacy verbally and in writing. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Work experience in post-secondary student services or administrative support. Working knowledge of TABE testing. Bi-lingual in Spanish. Knowledge of University policies, services, procedures and/or software systems.

 

Full time, Hourly, Mon-Fri, 7:30am - 4:30pm
