This position will manage the campus food pantry and provide supervision to student employees, volunteers, and interns within the food pantry. The position will also provide support to students who are struggling with meeting basic needs which may include varying degrees of economic need and/or distress including food insecurity/hunger, housing insecurity/homelessness, and other unforeseen home/personal crises which may impact their ability to be successful at Washburn. This position will report to Counseling Services under Student Life.

Essential Functions:
• Interact with others in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner.
• Follow all pantry policies regarding behavior, safety, client privacy/confidentiality, and reporting.
• As the lead, will support and supervise assigned staff to maximize performance and facilitate professional growth. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of assigned staff. Work to maintain a healthy work environment by promoting teamwork and collaboration.
• Manage daily general operation of Bods Feeding Bods Pantry and Outposts including ordering of commodities, monitoring pantry inventory, coordinating with partner food distributors, assisting with customer and staff questions and needs, stocking shelves, keeping the space clean and organized, etc.
• Coordinate and assist with food drive, and conduct outreach/education/awareness activities.
• Engage in marketing and PR for the pantry, including collaborating or leading social media outreach.
• Communicate updates, scheduling adjustments, and operational changes efficiently to staff, volunteers, and consumers.
• Participate in ongoing continuing education to maintain current food safety training requirements and to remain current with regards to industry best practices in campus food pantry management and operations.
• Collaborate with Campus Dining to coordinate programs such as food recovery, swipes program, etc.
• Coordinate professional development initiatives with campus and community resources to enhance Bods Feeding Bods services.
• Refer students to the appropriate on and off-campus resources to support their emergency needs including but not limited to mental health, legal, and financial resources.
• Identify, document, and regularly update the network of campus and community services to meet specific needs related to academic stress, legal issues, mental health services, financial support agencies, food services, etc.
• Provide confidential case management including connecting students with the appropriate resources on and off campus, assisting students in accessing these services, and serving as a liaison to these resources. Complete timely documentation of case management services.
• Ensure compliance with relevant policies/procedures/regulations, to ensure site is in audit ready condition.
• Provide support and coordination for the student organizations and student serving programs (such as Ichabods Moving Forward) affiliated with Bods Feeding Bods.
• Provide consultation for campus staff, faculty, and administrators around basic needs resources and services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external campus stakeholders critical to program success.
• Ensure timely completion and compilation of data/documentation needed to create usage trends and reports.
• Provide fiscal management via purchasing, invoice approvals, card transaction approvals, etc.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Non-Essential Functions:
• Serve on University-wide and Student Life committees as designated.
• Participate in professional organizations.
• Attend trainings for professional development purposes.

Required Qualifications:
• A four-year degree in a related field. In lieu of a four-year degree, an equivalent level of combined related work and post-secondary education may be considered. For instance;
• Four years of related experience (e.g., work at a homeless shelter, food pantry, or social service agency). The experience may be a combination of directly related work opportunities or,
• A combination of post-secondary education and at least two years of related experience (e.g., work at a homeless shelter, food pantry, or social service agency). The experience may be a combination of directly related work opportunities.
• Program management/planning or coordinating experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work positively with individuals from all populations and socio-economic backgrounds in a professional, supportive, and caring demeanor.
• Proven capacity to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word software.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with staff and leadership.
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Valid Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable by the university's standards.

Physical Requirements:
• This position requires working on-site.
• Occasional evening and weekend work.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervision experience.
